Marie founded Two Magnolias in 2019 with her business partner Jessica Rasmussen and serves as its Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founding Partner.
As COO, Marie plays a critical role in managing its Top of Funnel strategy. Marie has developed a unique approach to the research, development and implementation of an innovative strategy that has resulted in a diverse pipeline and portfolio of seed stage businesses, balanced across gender and ethnicity, in the fields of sustainability and human health. Over 4 years, Two Magnolia’s has sourced and met with 500+ early-stage businesses resulting in investment in to 7 portfolio companies.
Marie is passionate about ensuring that Two Magnolias clearly sets itself apart by taking a data led approach to its pipeline development. In this way, Two Magnolias can track, test, and target clear gaps that exist throughout the British Isles. Marie was born and raised in the Midlands and is laser focused in closing the equity gaps that exist with post revenue seed stage businesses. She recognises the attractiveness and opportunity of the regions of the United Kingdom for investment that will play a key role in the country’s growth led economic recovery over the next 10 years. Marie has built a strong and notable network across the UK early-stage investment landscape and is a clear advocate for change within the UK Venture Capital industry.
Prior to Founding Two Magnolias, Marie had a 20 year career in Global Financial Markets, spanning across UK and European asset managers and UK and US top tier banks. Alongside Marie’s career in banking she has demonstrated an interest and passion for investment and has invested personally over the past fifteen years in the tech sector with a focus on EM fintech, biotech and sustainable packaging.
Marie has a first class honours degree in Mathematics from Sheffield University.
